Head of Finance
Build and lead the finance function for a high-growth production AI platform company — from financial modelling across blended revenue streams to investor due diligence and fundraising.
Express interest →About Deliverance AI
Deliverance AI is the production AI platform company. We exist because 94% of enterprises fail to scale AI — not for lack of ambition or budget, but for lack of platform, governance, and delivery capability. We close the gap between AI investment and AI production for enterprises across regulated industries including pharma and biotech, financial services, retail, telecommunications, and logistics.
Our proprietary nine-layer platform — built around three core capabilities: Clarity (see everything), Govern (control everything), and Accelerate (ship everything) — is deployed inside customer environments with live workloads running on it from day one. We are not a consultancy that writes strategy decks. We are not a staffing firm that lends contractors. We are an engineering-led company with proprietary platform IP, a growing agent marketplace, and 15+ pre-built AI blueprints that cut months off delivery timelines.
Our engagement model is simple: Assess (4 weeks), Deploy (12–16 weeks), Operate (ongoing). Dedicated engineering pods own delivery end-to-end. Every deployment compounds the platform. Every use case ships faster than the last. Governed, observable, and delivering value from day one.
About the role
The Head of Finance will own the entire finance function at Deliverance AI, building the financial infrastructure, processes, and reporting that allow the company to scale responsibly while pursuing aggressive growth. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will build from the ground up — setting up accounting systems, designing financial models, managing cash flow, handling R&D tax credits, and preparing for due diligence as we approach fundraising.
Our business model is uniquely interesting from a finance perspective. We blend three revenue streams: Assessment revenue (£75k, 4-week diagnostics), Deployment revenue (£600k, 12–16 week platform builds), and recurring Operate/platform revenue (£175k+ ARR that compounds with agent footprint). The conversion rates between these stages, the unit economics of engineering pods, and the margin expansion as platform IP compounds across customers all create a financial narrative that needs rigorous modelling and clear communication to investors and the board.
What you will do
- Build and own the finance function from the ground up — accounting systems, financial controls, reporting cadences, and compliance processes.
- Develop and maintain the company's financial model, including revenue forecasting across Assessment, Deployment, and Operate streams, pod utilisation economics, cash flow projections, and scenario planning.
- Manage R&D accounting treatment, including capitalisation of platform development costs under UK GAAP/IFRS — our nine-layer platform is proprietary IP with significant capitalisation implications.
- Prepare investor-grade financial reporting, board packs, and fundraising materials that clearly articulate the financial trajectory, unit economics, and the compounding economics of the platform model.
- Oversee budgeting and cost management across all departments, working with functional leaders to balance growth investment with financial discipline.
- Manage cash flow, treasury, and working capital — particularly important given the lumpy nature of Assessment and Deployment revenue combined with recurring Operate revenue.
- Handle statutory compliance including VAT, corporation tax, R&D tax credits, and Companies House filings, working with external accountants and auditors as needed.
- Support commercial deal structuring, providing financial analysis on pricing, margins, pod economics, and contract terms for enterprise engagements.
What we are looking for
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with 6+ years of post-qualification experience, including experience in technology or high-growth companies.
- Demonstrable experience building finance functions in early-stage or scaling businesses — you know how to set up systems, processes, and controls from scratch.
- Strong financial modelling skills with experience building investor-grade models covering blended revenue streams (services + platform + recurring).
- Understanding of R&D capitalisation, tax credits, and the accounting treatment of proprietary software platform development under UK GAAP or IFRS.
- Experience supporting or leading fundraising processes, including due diligence preparation, investor reporting, and financial narratives.
- Commercial mindset — you are not just a backwards-looking accountant, but a forward-looking finance leader who partners with the business on strategic decisions including pricing, pod economics, and growth investment.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the pace of a startup — you can manage in an environment where processes are still being built.
- Alignment with our brand values — engineering rigour and radical transparency apply to finance as much as to engineering.
